They will work great with Volts of Power. Fast Flash These flashing LEDs are great for when a really fast flash is desired, as on modern Police, Fire, Ambulance, and all other emergency vehicles, and great for emergency situations and scenes. A big thank you to our friends at the Greeley Freight Station Museum for this video. GFSM used our fast flash 1. On this truck, the lens was removed and a yellow flasher inserted.

Then extend the foasher to either an on-off switch or to a rheostat, which is then connected to your power unit. The resistor should be attached to the anode. The selected item is out of stock. Maintains constant Model railroad ac light flasher rate. I now have the scale crossbucks working via a Digitrax DS64, some automotive relays, and a couple of diodes. Available with 4 or 6 infrared train sensors. The first calculator determines the resistance for a desired LED current while the second calculates the current for a given resistance. Does any one have any knowledge on how to make a flashing LED. I have been trying to figure it out. I have an older Bachmann SD and it has a flashing LED on the cab roof and I was considering adding some to the rest of my collection seeing as all the prototype picks I have seen have them. With DCC, you need a decoder that supports the flashing strobe function.
I have very basic DCC throttle and decoders. With a DCC decoder, the strobe has to be connected to one of the unused function wires, such as the green or purple wire, and the decoder has to be programmed for that particular function wire to become the strobe function.
It cannot be piggy-backed with the headlight function. There are LEDs available with a built-in flashing circuit that could be connected to the headlight wiring, but they come only in 5mm size, which would be too big for a roof-top strobe.
These are available in red, green, blue, and white. Lots of 3mm flashing LED's. What decoders are you using? I then wired an LED to the front pads on the decoder where the headlight was and used this for the beacon. I changed CV49 so it would flash. It's easier to do this with a board style decoder.
Make sure the decoder has the ability to change CV33,34,49 and If you have an unused function output on your decoder, attach your beacon LED to that and program it to be a flashing light.
Then remap that output to be on the same function button as your headlight. Modeling the Reading Railroad in the 's. Visit my web site at www. It takes the guesswork out of the equation so I can focus on modeling; each to his own ;0 It's a hobby!

The circuits are also able to control LEDs that could be used to indicate the selected route. This is an inexpensive way to make a stepped resistance box using a Single Pole - Twelve Position rotary switch and eleven resistors for each switch. Choose Options. There can be minor differences between timer IC's from different manufacturers but they all should be useable for any circuit. Login or Register.
Model railroad ac light flasher. Spotlight Review
Dallee Flasher Controls 3 amps. Can be used with AC or DC power. Doesn't state whether usable with bulbs though. The crossbuck signal is 1 to 1 scale. Closer inspection of the light bulbs indicate that they are 10volt 18watt bulbs. I will like to get the bulbs to flash and controlled through the Digitrax DS64, but the output of the 64 is setup for LEDs. I guess I'm in need of a circuit that will control the crossbuck incandescent bulbs via the Digitrax DS Yes, I do find lots of circuits for LEDs in crossbucks, but I have a scale set in my train room and would like them to be controlled by a switch command through my Digitrax setup.
Is there a way to have the DS64 trigger the incandescent bulbs in the crossbucks? I've found the bulbs are rated at 10volt 18watts. I've checked their boards and don't think they have enough power for the 10v18w incandescent bulbs in the crossbucks.
Builder of Bowser steam! Railimages Site. I have a crossbuck in my backyard and, using a 12 volt power supply, used the flasher used to alternate school bus warning lights.
Very simple to install and it's made heavy duty for the auto-motive type bulbs. I now have the scale crossbucks working via a Digitrax DS64, some automotive relays, and a couple of diodes.
This is controlled by a switch address which is accessible on my throttle or by JMRI. Now I need to figure out how to get the JMRI program to recognize any short on the layout and set the switch address to turn on the crossbuck lights.
I can see that the Digitrax PM42 will send a command via the Loconet showing a short and when it clears, so there must be a way for JMRI program to read this information and set a switch command.
